Ngudjuwa Ngurang Meaning
Ngudjuwa- Dhudhuroa word for Camp.
Ngurang- Wiradjuri word for place, town, nest or burrow of animals, hut, camp.
The combination of these two different Language words is out of respect for the two neighboring Nations the Wiradjuri and Dhudhuroa.

Why Important Meeting
The large Indigenous community within Albury/Wodonga have a great diversity of language and culture that needs to be recognized. With the assistance of the local community and various language bodies, procedures and protocols will be developed to eventually begin learning
language off country.

WayWurru and Dhudhuroa Language Program
The WayWurru and Dhudhuroa Language Program was first formed in 1998 funded by Victorian Aboriginal Corporation of Languages. The aim of the program was to locate resources that may contain any Indigenous words belonging to the WayWurru or Dhudhuroa languages. The next step was to store these words so that they could later undergo linguistic analysis, with the long-term goal being the revival of the language.

Purpose of this workshop
Develop understanding of a language centre.
What are the protocols and procedures of learning language off country.
How to get the community involvement with the language centre.
And what are the funding availabilities

Language Learning Centre
The language centre will have a unique position of being driven by and directly answerable to the community for which they do their work. The work of the language centre is determined by decisions of its committee. The committee is comprised of representatives of language groups in the region after consultation with Traditional Owner groups.
The Centre would have the capacity to provide the avenue for community to learn language off country.
This would be possible once a protocol agreement is negotiated with the local Traditional Owners.
