BILLABONG DREAMING 2006

BILLABONG DREAMING - 2006

This paintings depicts a Billabong and the life under the water. The three circles joined by squiggly lines represent my signature and the three rivers of the "Wiradjuri Nation", The Wambool (Macquarie),Kalar (Lachlan) and Murrumbidgerie (Murrumbidgee). The Wiradjuri tribe is also known by the name of "the River people" as we all lived along the banks of the Rivers which stretches across NSW. The Wiradjuri lands stretch from Nyngan to Albury and from Hay to Bathurst - the largest territory in New South Wales. Our country extends across 80, 00 square kilometers across areas known as the South West slopes, central and Southern table lands, Capital Country and the Riverina.
Billabong Dreaming is the painting Im holding.

UP

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Title: UP DOWN, IT DONT MATTER
MEDIUM; ACRYLIC ON STRETCHED CANVAS
SIZE OF PAINTING; 450 X 450
DATE; 23/01/2007
This painting depicts the Spirits coming out of the didgeridoo swirling around the landscape. The spirits dance and sing, for the land is dry and hot. UP the spirits go while the wind they leave behind makes the windmill pump DOWN into our Mother Earth, to pump up the water under ground. Back in creation time Baiame created all and placed certain Spirits in every thing and place. He gave Laws to these spirits and each spirit certain powers to make the aboriginal people obey his laws. The water spirits were left in places where people and animals came to drink. They were given the power to bring on new life, Storms, Floods and even droughts depending on how the people obeyed Baiame laws. They were given certain animal totems to feed the people such as fish, turtle and every other creature that lives in water. He made it Law that he who drinks water takes the water Spirit that gives new life. The Water spirits create rain and new life. Without the water spirits all would die.. My Spirits are protectors.©David Dunn
